Experimental Art NFT Narrative Taking Hold. UINTS & "This Artwork is Subject to Change" are Following Checks Meta while Claire Silver Genesis reaching ATH
Checks changed the NFT game in so many ways but the biggest was probably by bringing back the experimental side of the NFT space. The burn mechanism the project introduced is not insanely complex but it is very novel. The whole project uses the technology as part of the art. Only using NFTs could some of the actual artwork be possible.
We are seeing other projects follow this model and take it in different ways. Last week I wrote about racc0ons, an RPG game that implements a similar burn mechanism for the creation of its characters. The latest projects to follow a similar mold are UINTS and “This Artwork is Subject to Change”.
UINTS is going about it this the same way as Checks by implementing a burn mechanism directly into the contract that lets holders combine tokens and create a new output. We have yet to see what this looks like but the interest is high with a total supply ~39k total items.
“This Artwork is Subject to Change” is a project by Mason Rothschild with very little detail around it. But this is a clear hat tip back to Checks, but what the future for the project holds remains to be seen outside an expectation of new art soon.
One thing I think is worth noting is that the “Open Edition Meta” is nowhere near done. The project above sold over 10,000 units at a price of 0.008 ETH. Sure these are no longer the days of sellouts that size at 0.08 ETH but that is still a good chunk of cash.
Most projects have reverted to this model now. They will have an open edition or large total supply (~10k) and price the NFTs very low, say 0.004-0.008 ETH each, and many are selling out in this range. Seems the appetite for NFT project sell-outs still exists just at a much lower price range than what we saw in the peak of the mania in 2021.
One project worth watching is “Future, Present, Past” by @Ennntropy, the extremely popular curator / creator on Twitter and Instagram. This is a 48 Hour Open edition priced at 0.0007 ETH, so they are taking the above meta to the extreme. No clear sign as to what this project is about but given the reach they have it is definitely cool to see.
